PHILOSOPHY The Dallas Montessori Teacher
Programs are
designed to educate private and public school teachers Dr.
Maria Montessori insisted that the purpose of education is LIFE. In
accordance with this principle MISSION The
mission of DMTEP is to maintain a program of academic excellence based on
Dr. Maria Montessori’s child based HISTORY of DMTEP The Dallas Montessori Teacher Education program has been in existence since 1975. Its elementary program is the oldest existent A.M.S. course in the United States and has had over five hundred teachers graduate since its inception. The program attracts students no only throughout the United States, but also throughout the world.
Our success in training so many capable teachers is due to the abilities of the applicants as well as to our highly trained staff. All staff members have a great number of years experience in Montessori environments and are certified either by the American Montessori Society or the Association Montessori International

Phase (561 hours) Consists of course work to help prepare students with an
understanding of Montessori philosophy and educational theory The
course includes- · Montessori

Basis · Classroom
Management · Practical Life · Sensorial
Education · Music · Mathematics · Language
Development Seminars: · Geography /
History · The Sciences · Art and Music Practicum
Phase (540 hours) Consists of nine consecutive months (3.5 hours daily) of
immersion in a 3-6 Montessori classroom setting under the non-degreed students are awarded an AMS Early childhood Associate credential.

Design Practicum
Phase (1080 hours) Provides the elementary student teacher with nine months, full
day immersion in a Montessori 6-9 classroom

PROGRAM- Seminars Following the Practicum Phase,
student teachers are required to attend a week of seminars in art, music,
drama. and physical education.
Academic
Phase (226 hours) consists of course work to help students with an understanding of Dr.
Maria Montessori's approach to the education of the 9-12 child. The
psychological, anthropological, and sociological foundations of the
advance Montessori Method will be explored. Courses
include: ·

Practical Life Elementary
II is open to candidates who have successfully completed Elementary I. A
separate internship for Elementary II is not required by AMS if one was
completed at the Elementary I level.
All Practicum sites must be approved by DMTEP
Students enrolling in Elementary I II are required to hold a
Bachelor’s degree or it’s equivalent.

ADMISSION PROCESS · Submit the
application form and nonrefundable application fee. · Submit a copy of
High School Diploma and Official College Transcripts. · Submit three
letters of recommendation. · Submit a required
essay explaining why you want to be a Montessori guide. · Students with
foreign degrees are required to have transcripts evaluated for USA
equivalency. Fall and Summer Courses are Available Mail all required documents to:
